Getting rid of Scope Blur on 1.10

Post by Hades! on Mon May 19, 2014 10:45 pm

So I have my config file made right but for some reason I still cant get rid of scope blur. Does anyone know why? Is it due to 1.10?

Just copy paste into a text file and save as config.txt and then replace the old one in your halo folder.  It should work for ATi/AMD, Nvidia, and Intel graphics cards.

Any specific reason this would have dropped my fps was getting 175-240 in game now at times 24-45

Thats odd.. even my old GT 610 can get higher frame-rate then that.  Try removing it and using Hac2 and have -console in your shortcut.  Then while in-game hit the "~" key and type "scope_blur 0".  Its not as good as the configs no scope blur but it works.  I am not sure why your seeing such low frame-rate especially with that card.

I think it may have been my graphics set to high and on a server with a lot of stuff like tanks and banshees. In my server it says pretty constant at 150-175

Well that's mind boggling, you should still have MUCH higher FPS with that GPU. If you look at that config, by using 'Unknown' you will see that there are some other commands and may be causing the problem. You can make the config specific to your GPU by loading Halo whilst holding the CTRL key and finding the vendor info (e.g. 0x0000). Then include that under Nvidia.

It should look like...

///////////////////////////////////////////////////
//
// NVIDIA
//
//////////////////////////////////////////////////

0x0000 = 'GPU name'
DisableAlphaRenderTargets
break

You can also use HAC2 to remove scope blur and still keep the liquid camo.

No it does not with the 1.10 update, the new update added Nvidia support so that it can render liquid camouflage.  You can take a look at the config I posted above.

And yes his frame-rate is far to low for that card,  he could have it under-clocked which would hurt his frame-rate.  But he is not the only one with that low of a frame-rate on that card.  I don't know if its just the card does not run well with old games or what.

I realise that liquid camo now works with Nvidia. I was just stating that you can have both liquid camo AND no scope blur with HAC2 if need be.

Hades, try playing with your graphics settings as I seem to remember my old Nvidia card took a huge hit with decals on. Also try playing without overlays such as Xfire in-game and update your graphics drivers (if you haven't already).

I talked to another halo player with a Gigibyte Nvidia GTX 770 and he was not having the same issue infant he was getting 18x your frame-rate (3000-4000 @ 800x600).  His recommendation was to get all the drivers needed for your system and try to do a fresh re-install of your operating system.  If there is something in windows not letting your card preform the way it should.  Otherwise it is something wrong with your card or your drivers settings that makes it run at a lower speed when playing halo.

Also what operating system are you running?

So was the guy I was talking about.  I only have a GT 610 so I don't have all the settings like you the most I can do is overclock everything, but what settings does the driver for the GTX 770 have?  Does it allow you to specify the performance between games?  And if so then you should try to have halo set for maximum performance.  Your card may run a bit warmer but its halo so it wont get as hot as it would on a modern game.

And yes it could. It would get any programs that could be making your system run slower off, but take a look and see if you can do any of the things above.

I have it specified. It was running great till I did do a fresh install before 1.10 came out. So it must be something in that. So tuesday I'll do it again to see if that fixes it.

Yes, that would be correct.  Although you can use DisableRenderTargets as well but it will also remove the water in battlecreek and remove the surface of the water on death island.
